In winter, feet are particularly sensitive to cold. For extreme cold, the Canadian shoe specialist Baffin has developed the Apex model with a temperature rating of up to -100° degrees. In order to achieve such a high ranking, insulation and moisture management must be perfectly coordinated: The 8-layer removable inner shoe protects the feet from the cold and impresses with first-class moisture management. The inner shoe system wicks moisture away from the foot, ensuring dry and warm feet. Two aluminum-coated membranes store the heat and direct it back to the foot. The inner shoe is made of soft Thermaplush, a particularly pleasant synthetic leather fiber. Baffin uses grained cowhide as the upper material.

The Baffin Apex is waterproof and sure-footed. The sole claws into the snow like a bear's paw and thus offers a high degree of sure-footedness. At the same time, it has little contact with the ground to protect the foot from the cold.
